In our first class of Game Design, we were assigned with a partner to play a game of Battleship. Midway throughout me and my classmate's battle however, we were then told to put a twist to the game. We did this by adding our own rules to the game mechanics via a die that would alter the game in an interesting way.

By using this die, we figured out a certain way in which to speed up the game and have a bigger chance of sinking a ship. If a played calls a co-ordinate and it's a hit, he/she chooses a number between 1 and 6 and rolls the die. If the die lands on the said number, then the opponent's ship that was initially hit is instantly destroyed. If not, then the game continues as normal.

The die creates a 1/6 (17%) chance of an entire ship being destroyed, thus decreasing the game's length. This rule would be ideal for players who wish to have a quick game in little spare time.

While we were unable to finish the game on time, it tuned out that my classmate was the winner of the game, sinking more of my ship than me sinking his.

Below are photos of the game's final outcome. My paper is on the left, and my classmate's on the right.
